On this week's show I am sharing another piano concerto by George Lloyd. This one is his first, nicknamed "Scapegoat". There are some fresh, inspiring passages in this concerto too, like the third we heard last week.
Learn more about the publisher of Lloyd's work here:
Second half on the program is the Chorale Fantasy by Beethoven played by Radu Lupu at the BBC Proms in 1971 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra led by Lawrence Foster. Lupu transforms the piece, turning it from a light showpiece of somewhat trite construction to an elegant bagatelle.
Have you heard George Lloyd much?
